According to the shape and material of the drill collar, it is divided into three forms:
Type A (cylindrical): It is made of ordinary alloy steel, and the cross section of the pipe body is round drill collars both inside and outside.

Type C (non-magnetic type): It is made of stainless alloy steel with very low magnetic permeability, and the cross-section of the pipe body is round drill collar inside and outside.

Function of Drill Collar
The drill collar is used to increase the self-weight of the drill string to provide a larger WOB for the drill bit and to speed up the footage.
